MORE ON MVENTURES

Over the past couple of years, Addison Lee Group has led the MERGE Greenwich Consortium research project to simulate and assess the city impact of autonomous ride-sharing services; announced a strategic partnership with Oxbotica, the UK leader in autonomous vehicle software, to accelerate the implementation of connected and autonomous vehicles to London’s streets; and was successful in two bids for government-backed projects worth £35m to deliver the first self-driving service pilots in Europe, for which project work has already begun.

mVentures will bring all of these mobility projects and new initiatives together as one dedicated innovation arm, with the ultimate objective of creating, testing and implementing next generation urban mobility services. Once proven in London, successful innovations can be rolled out at scale through the Addison Lee Group business, which carries 10 million passengers per year across 350 locations globally. We will partner with organisations to trial mobility ideas that specifically address five core areas of innovation: electrification, autonomous vehicles, new business models, connected cars and data. Given Addison Lee Group’s scale, mVentures is in a unique position to rapidly test and deploy commercialised services across an established fleet and customer base.

Another significant difference between mVentures and usual accelerators is that the initiative is being led and delivered by a dedicated in-house team of mobility specialists. This allows direct access to the business during the innovation project phase and, for projects which offer long term value to both parties, a clear path to long term partnership whereby new products or services can be integrated into the core business. The first cohort is now open for applications and will involve 2-3 mobility projects which focus on electrification, data and new business models. The second cohort will open later in 2019 and we would welcome a conversation with any interested parties.
