Addison Lee is delighted to be leading the world-class consortium for the Endeavour project, which will be the first in Europe to pilot real-world passenger services using autonomous vehicles.

The aim of Endeavour is to prepare to launch a commercial service in 2021, subject to certain market-readiness criteria being met. These criteria will ensure the new service will meet customer expectations, be commercially viable and, crucially, will help cities to address transport challenges.

Endeavour builds on the findings from MERGE Greenwich, which simulated an autonomous ride-sharing service and found that it could be an ideal way to address gaps in the current transport network. For example, by providing a “feeder” service to transport hubs in newly developed areas, autonomous ride-sharing could reduce journey times and reduce the reliance on private cars.

This project will pilot mass market services from 2020, and project conclusions will be announced in 2021.
